Mrs. Willie (Stewart) Jordan, 76 passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Willie had lived most of her life in the community of Cawood, Kentucky. She was a retired Cook from the Hall and Little Cawood Elementary Schools. She attended the Mountain Assembly Church of God at Cawood, Kentucky and was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior and worked hard in her church.
Willie was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Evelyn Adkins as well as husbands Bethel Stewart, Sr. and Bert Jordan; one son Robert Stewart; two great-grandchildren Ethan Myers and Jacob Turner; brothers Gary Adkins, Pearl Britten Adkins, and Willard Franklin Adkins.
She is survived by five children: Theresa Stewart Rice of Andersonville, TN; Marilyn (Johnny) Turner of Day Branch, KY; Sharon Stewart Smith also of Day Branch; Rev. Franklin (Penny) Stewart of Cawood; and Bethel Stewart, Jr. also of Cawood; four step-children: Bert Jordan, Jr.; Ronnie Jordan, Doyle Jordon and Joyce Jordan. Also surviving are four brothers: James E (Carol) Adkins of Lake Jackson, TX; Charles W. (Angie) Adkins; J. B. (Amanda) Adkins; Michael Adkins all of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters: Ernestine Brown of Greeneville, TN and Charlotte (Charles) Campbell of Parma, OH. Twenty-three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. One special friend, Arnold Hamlin of Cawood, KY also survives.
Visitation will be held in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Kentucky from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Friday, September 27 and Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at the Mountain Assembly Church of God in Cawood, KY.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Mountain Assembly Church of God in Cawood, KY. The Reverends Jack Carmical, Doug Daniels, and Steve Daniel will officiate.
Interment will be in the Resthaven Cemetery immediately following the service. Brothers of the Church and Family will serve as Pallbearers.
