Wanda Gross

Wanda J. Gross, 88 of Verda passed away peacefully on Friday morning of January 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born May 22, 1934 in Harlan to the late George P. and Laura Hamby Doan. She was retired from the Harlan Co. Board of Education where she worked as a Teacher Aide. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She believed in the Baptist Faith.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Verden Perkins; brothers, GP, Verden, Jack, Paul, Ray and Lloyd Clayton Doan; sisters, Rosemary Stagger and Eloise Harris; 2 great grandchildren, Ava and Audrey Odell.
She is survived by her children, Greg Perkins of Tazewell, TN, Patricia (Eddie) Lay of Evarts, KY, Lura Adams of Evarts, Teresa (Rondall) Middleton, Evarts, KY; grandchildren, Christy (Willie) Middleton, Dustin Middleton, Robbie (Jessica) Middleton, Justin (Ann) Lay, Jeremy Helton, Ashley Perkins, Wanda Nicole Odell and Michael (Cara) Perkins; great grandchildren, Kennadee, Kelsie, Kinley, Emma, Jackson, Jasper, Conner, Callie and Wyatt; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Per her request a Graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday (Jan. 8) at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Kirby officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
