Sarah "Libby" Balenovich
May 30, 1951 — March 5, 2016
Sarah (Libby) Balenovich, 64, of Corbin, KY, crossed over to eternal life after a long illness on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Lexington, KY. Born May 30, 1951, in Harlan County, she was the daughter of the late J.D. and Edith Browning. She taught Harlan County children for her entire 30-year career. In the past, she served as a KEA Representative and as a Board Member of the Corbin Independent School System. She was active in volunteer work at Christ Hands and supported the Humane Society.
Preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Edith Browning, Libby was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by husband Bob Balenovich of Corbin, KY, a son, John (Rebecca) Balenovich of Louisville, KY, Elizabeth Balenovich (Joey) Hubbs of Harlan, KY, and Emily Balenovich, of Corbin, KY; She was a loving grandmother to Harrison, Bennett, and William Balenovich of Louisville, KY; Her brothers, David Browning of Houston, TX, and Charles (Beverly) Browning of Shelby, NC.; her aunt Jean Blankenship of Loyall, KY. She was deeply blessed with many special friends: Rhonda, Ann, Lisa, Billie, Joann, Tom and Susie, Mary, Lela and numerous others.
Visitation will be Wednesday (March 9) from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, 114 S. 3rd St. Harlan, KY 40831. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Joe Rouse officiating. Music will be provided by Raymond Smith.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am (March 10) at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel, Keith, KY. with Family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Christ Hands, Inc. 112 Railroad Street Harlan, KY 40831; Harlan County Humane Society 167 Belkway Drive Harlan, KY 40831; or Hospice of the Bluegrass, PO Box 189 Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Mrs. Balenovich.
