Rufus Collett

Rufus John Collett, 90 of Coldiron, KY passed away on Wednesday afternoon of April 27, 2022 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center.
Rufus was born April 9, 1932 in Leslie Co. KY to the late Ed and Abby Brummett Collett. He was a retired coal mines repairman and a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany during the end of the Korean War.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, John Collett; and his sister, Hedy Farmer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Shelby Jean Stephens Collett of Coldiron; his sister, Flora Noe of Wallins; brothers, Vernon (Alice) Collett of Wallins and Jim Collett of Coldiron; children, Jerry Collett, Sr, Cheryl (Danny) Brock, Terry (Jim) Saylor, Rufus Jr "Boone" (Diane) Collett, Abby (Jack) Brock, and Eddie (Barbara) Collett all of Coldiron.
Grandchildren, Jerry Jr. (Elizabeth) Collett of Bledsoe, John (Betty Joe) Collett of Cawood, Wesley Collett, Chad Collett, Bethany (Dewayne) Johnson of Coldiron, Matthew (Lindsay) Brock of Coldiron, Amy (Lee) Vanover of Wallins, Chris (Anna) Saylor of Speedwell, TN, Cody Collett of Coldiron, Shelly (Jack) Brock of Coldiron, Joe Johnson, Jr of Coldiron, Hayston (Brittany) Collett of Mary Alice, John (Maddy) Collett of Texas; great grandchildren, Kylie, Madelynn, & McKinna Brock, Gracelynn & Hayden Johnson, Bode & Roan Saylor, Carson & Liberty Collett, Jackson, Myla, Lovelynn, & Everligh Brock, Brandy, Jeremiah, Lucy, & Sarah Collett, and Brayden Smith; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday (April 29) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday (April 30) at the Laymon Cemetery in Coldiron, KY with Grandsons serving as Pallbearers.
Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
