Ruby Ethel Sargent, 91 of Ages passed away Wednesday July 31, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.
Ruby was born December 6, 1921 in Exeter, VA to the late Charlie and Ernie Mullins; she had resided in Ages for 75 years. She was a Child of the King and member of the Coxton Missionary Baptist Church and the Harlan Eastern Star.
She was not only a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but a beautiful person and a friend to all. She had vast knowledge in canning, gardening, home making, quilting, which she readily shared with all. The old account was settled long ago.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband for whom she married on December 22, 1938, Garrett Garfield Sargent; brothers, Estil Mullins, Ruie Mullins, and Bill Mullins.
She is survived by her loving son, Charles (Sandra) Sargent of Meadow Estates; grandson, Dr. Charles Garrett (Tracy) Sargent; granddaughter, Gina Hoskins; great grandchildren, Lindsey, Jessica, and Nathan Sargent, and Alice Hoskins. She leaves many nieces and nephews, including 1 special niece, Brenda Hibbitts of London, KY.
Visitation will be Friday August 2, 2013 from 5 until 7:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Eastern Star Rites will begin at 7:00 pm with funeral services following immediately after on Friday August 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Adkisson, Rev. Jim Burkhart, Rev. Roger Jordan, and Bro. Doug Brock officiating. Music will be provided by Sister Pauline Brock and Sister, Lisa Adkisson.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 3, 2013 at the Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY. Men of the Teetersville Baptist Church will serve as Pallbearers. Family & Friends are asked to meet at the Cemetery Chapel just prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, Mountain Heritage, P.O. Box 190 Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Mrs. Sargent.
