Ruby Harris

Ruby Miniard Harris, 84, of Corbin formerly of Big Laurel died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at St. Joseph hospital in London.  She was born October 1, 1932 in Leslie County daughter of the late Israel D and Rhoda Miniard.  She was a homemaker who loved to garden and cook.  She took care of her family especially her grandchildren.   She believed in the Church of Christ faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Harris; two daughters, Phyllis Harris and Tammy Harris; and brothers and sisters, Alfred Miniard, Pauline Miniard, Normous Miniard, Minnie Miniard, Mary Miniard, Leon Miniard, Mellie Wyatt, Katherine Baker, Jean Albro, Joe Miniard, and Nancy Gava.

Surviving are her children, Michael Harris of Big Laurel, Pam (Ted) Oakland of Elko, MN, and Rhoda (Rick) Freeman of Corbin, KY; brother, James Miniard; and grandchildren, Bryan Harris, Natasha Harris, Latasia Harris, Shawna Oakland, Jack David “DJ” Harris, Jonathan Freeman, Derrick Harris, Devin Harris, Katherine Oakland, Alexandra Partin, Kristina Oakland, and Jacob Oakland.  14 Great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Visitation will be Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home with Brother Billy Burke officiating.

Interment will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 12:00 pm in the Harris Family Cemetery at Big Laurel.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
