Roy Lee Britton, JR

   As a grieving family, we announce the heavenly departure of Roy Lee Britton, Jr. of Smith, Kentucky. Roy Jr. left this world at the age of 61 at 11:53 a.m. on March 14 at the Johnson City Medical Center. His family at his bedside, it couldn’t have been a more peaceful and beautiful passing. He was truly a man of courteousness and selflessness, a true caregiver. He was loved by so many, and everyone who was a part of his life absolutely adored him.

   Roy Jr. spent most of his time with his Dad (Roy Britton, Sr. “Poppy”). From making his food, taking him to appointments, or just taking him for car rides, Roy did everything with great pride for his dad. He loved his family and often expressed just how proud he was of them. He always said his greatest achievement was the man his son (Roy Britton III - “Little Roy”) had grown up to be. He loved telling everyone about his son and his grandbabies and all of their accomplishments.

   Roy Jr. was born on August 9, 1963, to his loving mother and father, the late Roy and June Britton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a special uncle, James Ray Britton, and other members of his family.

   Left to cherish his memories are his son, Roy (Erica) Britton, III, Baxter, KY; brother, Donnie (Priscilla) Britton, Smith, KY; sister, Barb (Ebb) Saylor, Smith, KY; a special uncle, John (Lillie June, Vince) Britton, Winchester, KY; grandchildren, Darla and Westlyn Britton, Kasyn and Isaac Combs, as well as a host of family and friends.

   Services will be held at Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the funeral beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Spencer Burkhart & Rev. Roger Clem officiating.

   The family will have a private burial on Wednesday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m., where he will take his final resting place with his mother and father at the Smith Cemetery in Smith, KY.

   In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, where you may stop by during regular hours or by mailing to PO Box 763, Harlan, KY 40831.

   The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the entire staff at Johnson City Medical Center for their compassion, courtesy, care, and kindness.

  Though Roy Jr. is gone from this world, his memories will forever be in the hearts of everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
