Roger Edwards

Roger Dale Edwards passed away on Wednesday, 12-3-15, at the age of 59 from a long battle of complications from Diabetes. “Good Ol' Roddy Dale” had a long list of good friends and loving family members. He loved the mountains, loved riding his 4-wheeler, loved camping and loved helping animals - no matter their size.

Roger was born August 28th 1956 to his parents Roy & Isabell Gibbs Edwards, who precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by David Michael Edwards, his brother; Wako Hurst, a very special uncle;  Stephen Mills, a special brother-in-law.

Roger is survived by his wife of 39 years Dora Lynn Edwards. His four sons Brian Edwards, of Kansas City; Jason Edwards, of Richmond/Harlan; Brandon Edwards, of Louisville; Joseph Edwards, of Harlan. His grandchildren Katelyn Marie Edwards, Benjamin Lee Edwards and Kayla Charlene Edwards.

He is also survived by his four sisters Janice & Danny Lawson; Debbie Tomlinson; Patricia & Calvin Foley; and Lisa & Earl Dugger. A special Aunt Alice Hurst and Nephew Terry Jones.

Roger had too many friends to mention, but some of those closest to him include James & Marcella Chadwick; Greg Hall; Hank Goforth, his brother-in-law; and Crystal Edwards.

There will be no visitation at this time, but a small private service will be held at a later date. Instead of receiving flowers from everyone we, the family, ask that you please make donations to the Harlan County Humane Society at 167 Belk Way Harlan, KY 40831. Roger will be cremated and his ashes buried in the place he loved the most, the mountains of Harlan County.
