Robert W. Yost, 76 of Harlan passed away on Saturday evening of April 27, 2024 at his home.
Bob was born January 30, 1948 in Harlan to the late Worley R. Yost, Sr and Velma Jones Yost. He was a 1967 graduate of Harlan High School where he served as Captain of the Football team. He went on to graduate from Morehead State University and was a member of the Sigma Pi. He had worked many years at Great Western Coal Company as quality control manager, he received various certifications in water, concrete and coal. For the last several years up until the time of his death Bob served as Director of Transportation at the Harlan Co. CAA.
Bob was a member of the Harlan Christian Church and had served in various role's over the years, having served as the Chairman of the Fire Fund when Harlan Elementary School burned, the Boys Scouts, and many youth organizations. Besides his church and family one of his greatest loves was the sport of Football and the Greenbay Packers.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret Yost; his son, Tim (Rachel) Yost; and his beloved granddaughter, Clarissa Elizabeth Yost; his brother, Worley (Jerri) Yost, Jr.
Visitation will be after 11:00 am Wednesday (May 1) at the Harlan Christian Church.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm at Harlan Christian Church with Rev. Charles Morris, Rev. Chris Wheeler, and Rev. David Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.
Pallbearers will Bill Howard, Foley Smallwood, Josh Coldiron, Kyle Howard, Jon Bushnell, and Logan Nantz.
Honorary Pallbearers are his Co-Workers at the Transportation department of the Harlan Co. CAA, Mike Coldiron, Fred Howard, Mark Bushnell, Bryan Bushnell, and Evan Howard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Harlan Christian Church, Brayden S. Morris Scholarship Fund, 130 South 1st Street, Harlan, KY 40831 or to the Harlan Christian Church Youth Group, 130 South 1st Street, Harlan, KY 40831.
