Robert Howard
March 11, 1932 — March 5, 2014
Robert Bailey Howard, 81 of Somerset formerly of Harlan went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday March 5, 2014 after a short illness.
Mr. Howard was born March 11, 1932 in Wallins, KY. He was a longtime businessman having owned and operated Masterblend Coal Company of Harlan. He had been a partner in Saylor Logging for many years. His love of Horses was well known and after retirement he moved to his horse farm in Pulaski Co., where he had the opportunity to ride horses all over the country. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Juanita Bailey Howard; his wife, Shirley Howard.
He is survived by his wife June Howard of Somerset; his daughter, Jane Howard (David) Karst; granddaughters, Anna Kathryn Karst and Ella Marie Karst all of Harlan; he leaves other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Sunday March 9, 2014 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Blanton-Bailey Cemetery at Wallins.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
