Rev. Howard Farmer, Sr.

Rev. Howard Farmer, Sr 86 of Cawood crossed over to gain his Heavenly reward on Saturday Jan. 2, 2016 at the Baptist Health in Lexington.

Pastor Farmer was born Oct. 14, 1929 in Harlan Co., Ky to the late John & Pearly Ledford Farmer. He was an Ordained Church of God Minister for 67 years having served many Churches all over Kentucky. His home Church was at the Grays Knob Church of God.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Madlene Farmer; his brothers, Luster, Fred, and Olin; sisters, Vernie, Mallie, Roxie, Cassie, Nancy, Thelma, and Alice.

He is survived by his wife, June Lamb Farmer of Cawood; children, Janice Higdon of Paducah, KY, Joyce (Randy) Johnson of Paducah, Martha Carter of Cawood, Wenda Burkhart of Harlan, Howard (Janie) Farmer, Jr of Cawood, Alice (Mike) Farmer of Paducah, KY, Tim (Trudy) Farmer of Wyoming, and Laura (Glendon) Caraway of Paducah, KY; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way; sisters, Elsie Stanton of Cawood, and Ella Robinson of Battle Creek, MI; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Tuesday (Jan. 5), at the Cawood Church of God.

Home Going Services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday (Jan. 6), at the Cawood Church of God with Rev. John Carter, Rev. Don Smith, Rev. Spencer Burkhart, and Rev. Everett Eads officiating. Music will be provided by Preacher Farmer’s Girls, Ron Shackleford, Jason Collins, and Lillie Engle.

Burial will follow in the Fields Cemetery at Cawood with Grandsons serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Harlan Co. District Church of God Pastors.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Grays Knob Church of God or Cawood Church of God.
