Reed Emerson Howard, 85 of Fresh Meadows passed away on Thursday Nov. 28 2013 at the Harlan ARH.
Mr. Howard was born April 17, 1928 in Saylor, KY to the late Miles and Nanny Wilson Howard. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lovina Howard; son, Chester Howard; daughter, Shirley Howard; brother, Homer Howard and 2 sisters, Loretta Bertsham and Lillie C. Howard. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served his country during WW II.
He is survived by 6 children, David Howard of Sawbriar, Donnie Howard of Baxter, Linda Estes of Fresh Meadows, Noble Howard of Fresh Meadows, Eddie Howard of Indianapolis, IN, and Bruce Howard of Hermitage, TN; 3 brothers, Ray Howard of Chicago, ILL, Kenneth Howard of Tennessee, and Robert Howard of Pathfork; 4 sisters, Clara A. Tarvidas of Chicago, ILL, Opal Burgin of Chicago, ILL, Sally Rhodes of Chicago, ILL, and Delores Lawson of Wallins, KY. He leaves 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Carmical officiating.
Burial will follow in the Park Howard Cemetery, Wallins. Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
