Nettie, “Helen”, Idol, 84, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Middlesboro ARH with her family by her side.
She was a retired worker at the Middlesboro Tannery. She was saved at an early age and was a faithful member of the Northside Missionary Baptist Church. During her life she served the church in the various positions of teacher, pianist, organist, youth music director, and held WMU offices. Her church and her family were her passion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Willie (Dyke) Day; Rev. Ronnie (Patty) Idol, Dale Mason, brothers, Clettous (Evelyn) Spangler, Otey (Virgie) Day, Rev. Joe (Shirley) Day, and William Hoarce (Pauline) Day.
She is survived by the following members of her family:

Children: Judy (Dan) Manning of Cumberland Gap, TN, Charlotte (Rev. Randy Ellis) Hoskins of Kenvir, KY, Clyde Richard Combs of Cumberland Gap, TN, Leland (Vandra) Idol, Jr., Michael (Melissa) Idol, Janie (Paul) Sawders, Missy Idol, Mary Idol, all of Middlesboro, KY, and James (Kathy) Idol of Louisiana.
Mrs. Idol is also survived by several grand and great grandchildren as well as special friends, Betty Wylie and Juanita Welch.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ellis Hoskins and Rev. C D York officiating. Music will be provided by Glenda Duffield and members of the Northside Baptist Church.
Internment will be at 10:00 am Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Hooper Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hoskins, Alex Edington, Jarod Sowders, Michael Idol, Derrick Lindsey, and David York. Honorary pallbearers will be Otto Smith, Danny Ramsey, Franklyn Chumley, and David Chumley.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel.
A special thanks to Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation and to their nursing and administrative staff, and a heart felt thanks to the Middlesboro Nursing Staff and Dr. CA Moore for the loving care shown to us through such a difficult time and being by our side until the end.
