Mike Howard

Mike Howard, 65 of Wallins, KY went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday morning of January 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted Christian who dedicated his life to many people by providing Christmas as the “Mountain Santa” for needy children, jail, and his nursing home ministry for over 40 years. Mike was born December 7, 1952 to the late Carl and Lena Calloway Howard and had worked many years as a coal miner.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by 1 brother, Jerry Howard and mother-in-law, Mildred Saylor.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Barbara Howard; children, April (Willie) Galloway; Michael Blaine (Beverly) Howard, and Jordan (Freddie Jo) Howard; Five grandchildren that he loved dearly, Jessalyn Galloway, Natalie Howard, Luke Howard, Jordyn Howard, and Carlyn Howard; brothers, Leroy (Sharon) Howard, Donnie (Roberta) Howard, Blackey (Robin) Howard, and Robbie (Mona) Howard; sisters, Wilma Hensley, LaJune (Bob) Choate, Debbie (Delane) Galloway, Theresa Howard, Tammy (Bobby) Whitehead; sister-in-law, Carolyn Howard; Sister-in-laws, Sandra Stephens, Sharon (Moe) Saylor and Vanda (John) McNab; brother-in-laws, Darryl Saylor, and Paul (Cheryl) Saylor; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, beloved workshop, and nursing home family that will mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Tuesday (Jan.9) from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Harlan Center, 201 S. Main St., Harlan, KY 40831.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (Jan. 10) at the Harlan Center with Rev. John Neal and Rev. Doug Daniel officiating.

Burial will follow in the Park-Howard Cemetery, Wallins, KY.

Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
