Michael Johnson

Michael H. Johnson, age 69, passed away December 18, 2021 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky. He was born in Riverside, California to Huell Johnson and the late Augusta Johnson.

Michael grew up in Rio Vista delivering papers and playing the drums in the school band. He married Rev. Valerie Herren at a young age, and both attended the University of Kentucky to pursue their dreams. After he graduated with a degree in architecture, he and Valerie bought a home in Lexington, Kentucky where they began a family, welcoming their only child, Ashlee. There, they enjoyed life to the fullest.

Michael was a wonderful husband, a loving father, and a magnificent “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren. He leaves behind a loving wife, daughter, and grandkids.

Michael had many hobbies, such as: tennis, taking photos, and chasing trains; however, after a car accident in 2008 he became limitless. He found a new joy in strawberry milkshakes, Top Gun, and being outdoors sunbathing. With his wife, Valerie, as a minister they enjoyed many church families throughout the years. Berea Methodist Church was the beginning and the end, as his services will take place at Berea Methodist Church Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Visitation will be from 2pm-4pm with services to begin at 4pm.
