Mary Mckenzie

Mary Howard McKenzie, 83 of Harlan went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 6, 2015, while surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born to the late Hulbert and Ola Wright Howard on February 25, 1932. She was a lifelong resident of Harlan County and believed in the Baptist faith.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joe McKenzie; son Frankie Joe McKenzie; daughter, Kathy McKenzie; sister, Irene Holbrook; brother, Gene Howard; and grandson, Kevin McKenzie.

She is survived by her children, Lynda (Michael) Jones and Jim (Brenda) McKenzie all of Harlan. Her grandchildren Brett (Paula) Turner, Harlan; Michael (Shannon) Turner, San Antonio, Texas; Joe (Daisy) McKenzie, Harlan; Adam McKenzie, Harlan; Scott (LaBreska) McKenzie, Evarts KY; Tommy (Victoria) McKenzie, Corbin, KY. Great grandchildren, Baylee Turner, Harlan;  Patrick Turner, San Antonio, Texas; Trenton McKenzie, Jarrett McKenzie, Braylee McKenzie, Shayla Dabe, Jayden Dabe, Evarts, KY; Brent Hammons, Harlan and Emma McKenzie, Corbin, KY; Anna and Ella Karst, Harlan. Also surviving are sisters, Doris Leach, Springboro, OH and Joy Howard, Lexington, Kentucky and   special friends, Bill Berger and Rachel Eubank; Ted Foley; Jerry Phillips; and Jane Karst.  She leaves many friends and family to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 8th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow directly after visitation at 7:00pm with Pastor John Carter officiating.

Private burial will be Wednesday, December 9th at the McKenzie Cemetery in Sunshine with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
