Mary Baker

June 21, 1946 — July 14, 2017

Mary Elizabeth Baker, 71, of Harlan, Kentucky died Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.  Mary was born June 21, 1946 in Harlan, Kentucky daughter of the late Delmas and Bessie Jones.  She was retired from the Harlan Independent School system where she had served as a Teacher’s Aid.  She was a member of the Harlan Sunshine Church of God where she was a lifelong Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Wayne Baker and sister, Barbara Ann Jones.

Surviving are her son, Delmas “DW” (Christy) Baker of Lexington, KY; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jackie Baker of Lexington, KY; brother Jessie Wallace of Winter Springs, FL; sister, Della Jones (Rich) Walker of Rochester, NY; and grandchildren, Caleb and Braxton Baker of Lexington, KY.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Rhonda and John Rice of Lexington, Johnny and Ginger Baker of Bardstown, Jeff and Rebecca Hartman-Baker of Velars, CA, Jeff and Cathy Ellis of Holly Lake Ranch, TX, Roger and Erica Ellis of Dry Ridge, KY, Scott Ellis of Lexington, Lila Spurlock of Apooka, FL, Cathy and Todd Bradley of Clearmont, FL, Jean and Dennis Mull of Johnson City, TN, Rose and Terry Morley of Bear Lake, FL, Johnny and Janet Spurlock of Sorrento, FL, Lois and David Stroh of Plymonth, FL, Gay Baker of Apopka, FL, Dana Church of Apopka, FL, Tommy Baker of Apopka, FL, and Benny Baker of Apopka, FL.

Visitation will be Monday, July 17, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Harlan Sunshine Church of God.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Harlan Sunshine Church of God with the Rev. Johnny Baker officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.  Jimmy Benjamin, Roger Bowling, Lewis Gibbons, Gene Newsome, and Dallas Muncy will serve as pallbearers.
