Mary Baker

October 15, 1913 — June 2, 2016

Mary Lewis Baker of Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center, departed this life for her heavenly home, Thursday June 2, 2016 at the age of 102.  Born on October 15, 1913 at Napier, Kentucky she spent 88 years residing on her families’ property in Big Laurel, Kentucky.

One of her favorite pastimes was wading Greasy Creek and collecting unusual rocks.  She loved flowers, gardening, living a simple life, and was very dedicated to her family.  Mary was a homemaker and a life-long member of Cedar Chapel, Church of the United Brethren in Christ at Laurel Mission, Big Laurel, Kentucky.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Alice Huff Lewis; husband, Harrison Baker; son, Bill Baker; brothers, Dewey Lewis; John Lewis; sisters, Cindy Lewis Harris; Elsie Lewis; Martha Lewis; Lucy Lewis Miniard.

Mary is survived by her son, Nobe Baker, of Bledsoe, Kentucky; two granddaughters April Baker Reese (Steve), Fenton, Michigan; Anita Baker Tolliver (Steve) Harlan, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Josh Reese, Fenton, Michigan and Jessica Reese Brown (Ben) and three great, great-granddaughters.  Also left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Annie Lewis Miniard, Putney, Kentucky; Oma Lewis, Corbin Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Marys family will receive family and friends at the Chapel of Anderson, Laws and Jones Funeral Home Monday June 6, 2016 from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.  Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.  The Rev. Ken Smith will officiate the services.

Burial will be in the Lewis Family Cemetery at Alex Branch, Kentucky.   Steve Reese, Josh Reese, Steve Tolliver, Mike Harris, Eddie Lewis, and Nathan Boggs will serve as pallbearers.
