Mariolla Hopkins Osborne
August 6, 1945 — April 23, 2024

Mariolla Delores Osborne was born on August 6, 1945 to the late James and Mary Alice
Hopkins. She was the eldest of nine children. She transitioned to her resting place on Tuesday
April 23, 2024 at the age of 79.
She lived in Harlan, Kentucky and was educated at Rosenwald High School. She later
attended Harlan Technical School and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She met and
married her soulmate James Devont Osborne after he returned home from the Vietnam War.
Mariolla accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age and was
baptized into baptist faith at Union Baptist Church in Verda, Kentucky. In adulthood she was the
director of mass and youth choirs. She also helped with special events and was a youth
mentor. She was a pillar in the community and was loved by everyone she came in contact
with. She was humble and kind. She loved to cook, and opened her doors to many. The best
thing she loved was being a Momma. Her grandchildren had a special place in her heart and
she spoke of them often. She will always be remembered for her smile, encouraging words she
spoke, and the remarkable courage and faith she maintained throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years James
Devont Osborne, her eldest son Kenneth Lane Hopkins and siblings Jamison Hopkins and Betty
Hopkins.
She also leaves seven children to cherish her memories. Brad (Jessica) Hopkins,
Bryant (Tracy) Hopkins, Jacquetta (Maurice) Hollingsworth, Gwendolyn Hopkins, James Devont
Osborne Jr. Delynia Osborne, and Demetrice Osborne. Six siblings Brenda Hopkins-Porter,
Alexander Hopkins, Harry ( Bruce) Hopkins, Kathy Hopkins, Jerry Hopkins, and Anthony T.
Hopkins. Bonus sister Wanda Cotton. Twenty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also two special ladies that will always be family. Maren Hopkins and Josephine Holt.
Visitation will be after 11:00 am until the funeral hour on Saturday (May 4) at the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Homegoing services will be at 12:00 pm Saturday May 4) at the Church with Rev. Jerry Kirby officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens at Verda, KY.
