Louis Takacs, Jr.

Louis Takacs, Jr., 92 of Cumberland passed away Friday September 13, 2013 at the Harlan ARH.

Louie lived in the Tri City are for over 80 years. He and his wife Helen owned and operated “Louie & Helen’s Drive-In” in Cumberland for many years, after the close of the Drive-In, he opened “Louie’s Barber Shop” for over 40 years. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. He proudly served his Country as a member of the United States Army during WW II.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis, Sr. and Mary Bobas Takacs; his wife Helen Banyas Takacs; 4 brothers, Tommy, Bill, Joe, Gabe Takacs; 2 sisters, Margaret Green and Irene Craft.

Louie is survived by 3 sisters, Rose (Harold) Hall of Naples, FL, Mary Hammons of Jacksonville, Fl and Betty Sedesky of Ashland, OH; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews as well as lots of friends in the community. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be Sunday September 15, 2013 from 6 until 9:00 pm at the Church of the Resurrection, Lynch, KY with Rosary Service to follow.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday September 16, 2013 at the Church of the Resurrection, Lynch, KY with Father T. Mani George officiating.

Burial will follow in the Huff Cemetery, Cumberland, KY with Military Rites being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Stephens Catholic Church, Cumberland, KY in memory of Louie.
