Leroy Jones

Leroy Jones, 78 of Harlan passed away on Tuesday afternoon of December 17, 2024 at his home following a long illness.

Leroy was born October 22, 1946 in Cawood to the late Joe and Estelle Venable Jones. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Longtime care giver of the Cloverfork Coal Company at Kitts, KY for which he took great pride in. He enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, but most important he was a loving father and grandfather.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlene "Tootsie" Jones; sisters, Betty "Susie" Fields and Jackie Bryant; his brothers, William "Bill" Jones and Jo Ed Jones.

He is survived by his children, Mike Jones, Roy (Betty) Jones, Tammy (Mike) Long, Amanda (Brandon) Cox and Brandon (Cecilia) Jones; grandchildren, Ashley Willis, Christina Jones, Brittany Jones, Racheal Jones, Michael Jones, Charlene Jones, Desiree (RIchard) Davenport, Leroy (Mikayla) Jones, Susan Jones, Katelyne Jones, Michael Long, Hannah Jones, Kiley Baker, Brandon Jones, Braelynn Jones; a host of great grandchildren; sisters, Kay Boggs, Alice (Jack) Sergent and Sherry (Guy) Fain; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends the Whitfield Family.

Visitation will be Saturday (Dec. 21) 11:00 am until the funeral hour at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday (Dec. 21) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Nicely officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY with Military Rites being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bluegrass Hospice Care for the care given to our dad, especially two very special nurses, Allie and Gail.
