Leroy "Dickie" Smith, Jr

    Leroy "Dickie" Smith, Jr 58 of Grays Knob, KY passed away suddenly on Friday evening of June 2, 2023 following a tragic accident in the beloved mountains that he enjoyed spending so much time in.
   Dickie was born February 4, 1965 in Harlan, KY to the late Leroy Smith, Sr and Josie Faye Farmer Smith. He was a retired coal miner and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed foraging for ginseng, kayaking, hiking trails, and riding 4-wheelers. 
   Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne "Crick" Bowman and Deb Pace; his brother, Gary L. Smith, who just preceded him on May 24, 2023; son in law, Joshua Reeves.
   He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Lahoma Farmer Smith of Grays Knob; his daughters, Heather (Joseph)  Shelton of Grays Knob and Kacey Reeves of Cawood, KY; his grandchildren, Tristen "Sprig" Reeves and Taylor "Bug" Reeves and his beloved "Jax"; his loving brother and best friend, Rev. Johnny Ray (Debbie) Smith of Corbin, KY; special friends, Jason English of Teetersville, KY, Joey Hoskins of Bledsoe, KY, and Sandra Inman of Cumberland, KY; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
   Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Monday (June 5) at the Grays Knob Pentecostal Church.
   Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday (June 6) at the Grays Knob Pentecostal Church with Bro. Joey Hoskins officiating. 
   Burial will follow in the Grays Knob Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. 
   The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for all of the concern and support shown during this time of loss. Special thank you to all of the First Responders and others who helped to bring Dickie out of the mountains on Friday night. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
