Larry D. Gilbert, Sr. of Baxter, KY was born on February 24, 1945 in Harlan, Kentucky and passed away on May 23, 2024 at the Harlan ARH.
Larry was a long time employee of Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and a long time member of the United Steelworkers Union. Larry also had the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel.
Larry is survived by his son, Dale Gilbert (Frankfort, Kentucky), granddaughter, Alisha Farlee and great grandson, Bryce Farlee (both of Jackson, Missouri) and his brother in law, Beckham Southerland (Gloria). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews from both the Gilbert and Southerland Family.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Juanita (Southerland) Gilbert, his daughter in law, Denise (Parmer) Gilbert, his parents, Raymond & Edith Gilbert and his father and mother in law, Luther and Amanda Southerland, his brothers; David Gilbert, Gordon Gilbert and Wayne Gilbert. As well as several brothers in law, sisters in laws, nieces and nephews.
A private memorial will be held, and the family asks in lieu of flowers please donate to a Humane Society or some other worthy cause in memory of Larry.
