Kenneth Day

Kenneth Ray Day, 78, of Smith, Kentucky left this ole world behind to go be with the Lord above on Tuesday, February 22, 2022  He passed during the afternoon hours while at home being cared for by family.
If you knew Ken, then you know there was no question that he loved Jesus and his family. There is also a pretty good chance that any encounter you had with him left you with a smile. If you talked to him recently leading up to his passing, he probably encouraged you to listen to some Billy Graham and make sure you have a relationship with the Lord. He was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend, a true hard working family man. He was a faithful member of New Riverside Baptist Church where he led Sunday School for many years and was a deacon who loved his church very much. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and retired coal miner.
Ken was born January 28, 1944 in Harlan Co., KY to the late Walter and Nannie Day. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Janice, Dennis, Darlas, Mable, and Freda.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Day; children, Elizabeth (Boone) Lewis and Kenny (Sabrina) Day; grandchildren, Jacob (Kortney) Whitaker, Brittany Day, Heather (George) Shoemaker, Ashley (Prescott) Saylor, Kendra Day, and Johnathan Day; 1 great grandchild, Gracelynn Shoemaker; sister, Linda (Fred) Johnson; he also leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Friday (Feb. 25th) at New Riverside Baptist Church in Smith Kentucky. Funeral Services will begin the same day at 4:00pm with Rev. Aaron Stapleton officiating. Military rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard at the Church.
Private Burial will take place Saturday (Feb. 26th) at the Smith Cemetery, Smith, KY with family serving as Pallbearers.
The family suggest memorials be made to Christ's Hands Inc. 112 Railroad Street, Harlan, KY 40831 in Memory of Kenneth.
