Kelly Clark Howard, 72, of Wallins, Kentucky died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Son of the late George and Laura Howard, he was born in Wallins, KY on Thursday, April 1, 1943.
He had served as a U.S. Marshall, Mayor of Wallins, Kentucky and as a Wallins City Police officer. He had worked as a Driver for Wallins Distributor Company, a projector operator at the Wallins Theater and was owner of Wallins Car Sales. He loved yard selling and people and his dog, Taco.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Goldine Vaughn Howard; sisters, Juanita Saylor, Irene Jones, Brenda Howard; special brother-in-law, G. D. Saylor; and brother, George Hobbs
Surviving are his special companion, Juanita Burkhart; children, Kelly (Tim) Griffey of Baxter, Charles “Chuck” (fiancé Carol) Hubbard of Pineville, Sherry (Tommy) Webb of Wallins, and John E (Jill) Ball, III of Lexington; grandchildren, Crissie Howard, Leslie Shell, Keith Brewer, Misty Maggard, and Brandon Webb; great-grandchildren, Caleb Brewer, Rylie Maggard, Asariah Maggard, Brylon Webb, and Zachary Ball; siblings, Wilma Saylor of Wallins and Ray Hobbs of Cincinnati, OH; and special cousin, Ralph Carnahan of Ft. Worth, TX.
Visitation will be Friday, July 3, 2015 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Freeman Clark will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Whitney Collett and Larry Saylor.
Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY. Tommy Webb, Tim Griffey, Larry Saylor, Elwood Bailey, Chuck Howard, and David Moore will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Harlan County Animal Shelter at 394 Highway 840, Baxter, KY 40806.
