Joyce Long Simpson

   Joyce Long Simpson, 86 of Coldiron, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord at 9:29 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Harlan ARH surrounded by family and friends, after fighting a long battle with Addison Disease.

   She was born on December 2, 1938 to the late Virgil and Geneva Long of Coldiron, Kentucky. She was a member of Coldiron Church of God. She loved singing, praying for people, and being around her family.

   Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simpson, Sr., and her siblings; Jeanette Long Barbay and Roger Lewis Long.

   She leaves behind her children; Robert Simpson, Jr. and wife, Vicky Simpson, Michael Wayne Simpson and wife, Tammy Simpson, and DeAnna Simpson Short and husband, Jackie Short, a grandson whom she thought of as one of her own, Shawn Robert Short, along with 5 other grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and her siblings; Virgil Long, Jr. and wife, Shelvey Long, Shirley Jean Long Simpson, David Lane Long and wife, Sherry Long, Nona Ann Long Carmical and husband, Jack Carmical, Jan Rose Long Blanton and husband, Vernon Blanton, and Dell Long.

   Visitation will be on Saturday (Dec. 21) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

   Funeral services will be on Sunday (Dec. 22) at 1:00 PM at Coldiron Church of God with Rev. Jack Carmical and Bro. Donnie FIsher officiating.

   Burial will follow the funeral services at the Long Cemetery on Happy Top, Kentucky.
