John Williams

John Alden Williams, 77 died September 7, 2013 in Reno, NV.  Predeceased by his parents Roberta Hewlett Williams and John Edgar Williams and his younger brother David Hewlett Williams, grandparent Robert Lee Hewlett and John’s beloved grandmother Cordelia Marie Miller Hewlett, also his guardian aunt, Ruby Neil Hewlett Colley and uncle Arris Jack Colley.

John attended school in Corbin and Oneida Baptist Institution and was active at Central Baptist Church where he was baptized and played the piano and organ.  He worked at Merrill Lynch brokerage before enlisting in the U. S. Navy.  He was employed in hotels in Denver, CO and San Francisco, CA and was a nursing home caregiver before retiring in Reno, NV.  John was always writing poetry and continued in his love of music by playing in various churches in San Francisco.

He is survived by Janis and Ronald Ross and Cathryn Forester of Harlan, KY and John’s best friend Al Lunn of Reno, NV.  Inurnment was conducted at Resthaven Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
