John Shows, Jr.

John Randall Shows, 73 of Putney passed away Tuesday September 17, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

John was born in Rose Hill, VA to the late John Shows, Sr and Golden Dockery Shows. He was a retired truck driver for C.V. Bennett and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He believed in the Pentecostal Faith.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Lester, and Willie Wilson; sister, Lizzie Bledsoe.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Sargent Shows of Putney; children, Gunner Monroe of Putney, Edward (Tammy) Irvin of Cawood, Bobby (Latichia) Irvin of Georgia, Tony (Marsha) Irvin of Louisville, Michael Shows and Rachel Shows both of Johnson City, TN; brothers, Harold and Danny Wilson both of Michigan; sisters, Donna Elswick of Kentucky, Virgie Wilson of North Carolina, and Betty Wilson of Michigan; special friend, Bo Sargent of Harlan; special thank you to Danny Jones and Evelyn England.

Visitation will be 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Sunday September 22, 2013 at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm on Sunday September 22, 2013 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Spencer Burkhart and Rev. Connie Abner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery at Rose Hill, VA with military honors by the Harlan Honor Guard.
