John Shepherd, 50 of Pansy, passed away peacefully, Sunday November 7th, 2021.
John was born December 28, 1970 to Billy Dan & Jean Shepherd. John was a coal miner, a proud roof bolter to be exact. He had coal in his veins & loved being underground. John was 18 when he first started mining. For over 2 decades he continued. Later he became a certified welder. Although it paid the bills for a while, he couldn’t get mining out of his blood & returned to his true love, coal mining. John was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan his whole life & would fight over the Pittsburg Steelers & Pikeville Panthers. He was a true fan. His great nephews & nieces were a joy in his life. He loved having fun with them & watching them play football. John enjoyed spending time with family especially when good food or a ballgame was involved. The man could eat his weight in banana pudding & deviled eggs. His best friend was his loyal dog, Toby. John was known for his larger-than-life smile, his have fun & jokester personality.
Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by his beloved brother Duke Shepherd.
John is survived by his aunt Elizabeth “Liz” Howard, his Big Sissy, Valerie Shepherd Smith. Nieces, Melissa (Tom) Sayers, Casandra (Jerry)Cooper, Great nephews & nieces Bryson (Brooklyn), Peyton & Mason Sayers, Jason, Destiny, JoyAnna & Win Cooper. Special friends Tim & Velma Patterson as well as many cousins & friends.
Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service is being planned for later date.
