John Kelly

John Wesley Kelly (CPO, USN Retired), 83 of Cumberland, KY passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Monday evening of April 5, 2021.
John was born January 14, 1938 in Cumberland to the late Millard and Ethel Hall Kelly. He proudly served his country for 23 1/2 years in the United States Navy. After his retirement he began his second career at Croushorn Equipment Co. for 25 years. He believed in the Baptist faith and attended Cloverlick Freewill Baptist Church. His greatest job was being grandpa to his beloved grandchildren, for whom he loved more than anything and and his passing will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son in law, Rick McKnight; brothers, Donald, Wayne and Winston Kelly; sister, Gayle Cornette.
He is survived by loving wife of 57 years, Ann Kelly; his daughter, Lisa McKnight; his son, Greg (Stephanie) Kelly all of Cumberland; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with 2 more expected this year.
Also surviving are 2 brothers, Wendell (Rosa) Kelly of Goodrich, MI, and Walker (Debra) Kelly of Lancaster, KY; 1 sister, Mary Coody of Okeechobee, FL; sister in law, Frances Fields of Cumberland; brother in law, David (Doris) Stidham of Burlington, KY; he leaves a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday (April 7) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday (April 8) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Dillard Stanley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery at Hiram, KY with Military rites being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Ethan McKnight, Jay Clay, Nick Clay, Casey Saylor, Allen Adams, Aaron Smith. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gabriel Clay.
Covid-19 Restrictions of 60% of our capacity, face masks, and social distancing all set by the Governor of Kentucky shall be followed.
