John R. Brewer, 68 of Mary Alice passed away Wednesday July 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
John was born June 18, 1949 in Harlan to the late James and Lorene Gaines Brewer. A lifelong resident of Harlan, he served his nation in the United States Army during the Vietnam War having earned a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Chevrolet Baptist Church, the Harlan Honor Guard, and a Kentucky Colonel also.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie and Sam Brewer; his father and mother in law, Bud and Lucille Fox; brother in laws, Paul Tyree, James Swanson, and Paul Walker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jean Brewer; his daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Lasley; his pride and joy, grandson, Carter Lasley; brother, Russell (Betty) Brewer; sister, Peggy (Larry) Nevels; brother-in-laws, David (Patsy) Fox, Paul Fox, and Doug (Irene) Fox; sister-in-laws, Ann Walker, Jody Cooper, Helen (Euel) Carter, and Louise (Wes) Day; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and his special friends the Brock’s also are left to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday (July 7) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Huckleby and Rev. James Sanders officiating.
Burial will be 12:30 pm Saturday (July 8) at the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith. The Harlan Honor Guard will serve as Pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by noon to go in procession to the cemetery.
Flowers are welcomed but family request memorials be made to the Harlan Honor Guard, PO Box 704 Baxter, Ky 40806 in memory of John.
