Joel Howard
February 2, 1936 — February 23, 2014
Joel G. Howard, 78 of Harlan, KY passed away Sunday, February 23 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Joel was a retired heavy equipment operator who worked in construction helping to build many of the roads and tunnels in southeast Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Park and Willie Lee Howard.
Surviving are his wife: Ethel Lewis Howard; daughter: Desa (Robbie) Blanton; sons: Joel Howard, Jr. and Steve (Leslie) Howard all of Harlan, KY; sisters: Helen Ellison of Harlan, Wanda Spradlin of Somerset and Pat (Ralph) Shope of Somerset; and Grandchildren: Drew Blanton of Huntington, WV, Jered Howard, Charley Blanton, Wyatt Howard, Brady Adkins, Caleb Adkins all of Harlan. Numerous Nieces and nephews and many fellow workers and friends will also mourn his passing.
Visitation will be in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
Following cremation a private memorial service will be scheduled.
