Jim McKenzie, 62 of Sunshine passed away peacefully Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was a native of Harlan born May 25, 1955 son of the late Joe and Mary Howard McKenzie.
He had worked for his father at McKenzie Trucking, as a truck driver for Richard’s Oil, and as a heavy equipment operator at Spike Construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, going to the cabin, hunting, and fishing. He was a fan of bluegrass music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank McKenzie; sister, Kathy McKenzie; nephew, Tommy Mac McKenzie; and uncle, George McKenzie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda McKenzie; sons, Joe (Daisy) McKenzie and Adam McKenzie; his constant companion, his dog Ruckus; and sister, Lynda (Michael) Jones. Also surviving are a host of friends and family.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately at 7:00 PM. Pastor Brent Lively will officiate the services.
Interment will be private in the McKenzie Family Cemetery. Joe McKenzie, Adam McKenzie, Brett Turner, Jon Reynolds, Jason Parker, Scotty McKenzie, and Brad Shepherd will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Wilson, Shelby Wilson, Greg Wilder and Boo Stewart.
