Jessie "Junior" Young, Jr.
June 8, 1951 — August 25, 2014
Jessie “Junior” Ralph Young, Jr., 63 of Harlan, KY passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home in Teetersville, KY surrounded by his family and friends following a six year battle with cancer. He was born and lived in Harlan County most of his life. He had worked for 16 years as a coal miner for the Bennetts at Dixie Fuel and at Robinette Chevrolet. He enjoyed fishing, walking, and working with wood. He made lots of bird houses for people and loved to tend a garden.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Oma Young Farmer; step father, Fred Farmer; father, Jesse Young; and father-in-law, David Sparks.Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Tina Young of Teetersville; four loving children, Tina Marie (Bobby) Perkins of Glasgow, KY, Linda (Robert) Perkins of Middlesboro, KY, Marcus Young of Teetersville, KY, April (Mike) Akemon of Hazard, KY; sisters, Betty Jean (Randy) Rowe of Grays Knob, KY and Wilma (Bill) Engle of Harlan, KY; brother, Robert (Glenda) Young of Putney, KY; sisters, Lorene (Wayne) Register of FL, Jo Ann (Rex) Allen of FL, and Thelma (Roberto) Reyez of FL; step-sisters, Darlene (Junior) Mullins of Shields, KY and Mary Blas of Evarts; step-brother, Willis (Ann) Farmer of Evarts; grandchildren, Joshua and Timothy Perkins of Middlesboro, and Johnathan Doyal and Amanda Ray of Glasgow, KY; great-grand children, Joseph and Chase of Glasgow, KY; his mother-in-law Martha Sparks of FL; and brother-in-law, Carl (Danette) Grizovic of FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at the Dressen Church of God. The Funeral will be Friday August 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Dressen Church of God with Brother Steve Sizemore, Brother Ronnie Williams, and Brother Terry Adams officiating.
Interment will follow the funeral at the Tway Cemetery at Tway, KY. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
