Jason W. Smith, 39 of Harlan, Kentucky died suddenly of apparent heart failure Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his home. Born November 9, 1976 in Harlan, Kentucky he had served as a Retail Manager in the Hotel Industry and was a self taught musician playing the guitar and an avid reader.
Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Theo Smith and maternal grandparents, Betty and Leonard Powers.
Surviving are his mother, Kaye Powers Smith of Harlan; sister, Bethany (George) Maggard of Harlan; father, Bill (Trudy) Smith of Pineville; dear cousins, Jennifer King, Jeff Miller, Tim Browning, Sherry Browing, and Shannon Browning; and special friends, Rebecca Selvey, Seth Spoelman, Tim Bortrager, Wesley White, Adam Lewis, Leann Farmer, Colin Spoelman, Ron Spoelman and Andy Judd. A host of other relatives are also left to mourn his passing.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 which will be concluded with prayer lead by the Rev. Kyle Burnette at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
