James Middleton, 70 formerly of Cranks, KY entered the kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, September 19, 2020 after suffering with a long illness. His firm belief in Jesus supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
He was born on July 30, 1950 to the late Tommy and Fern (Johnson) Middleton. He was raised in Cranks and settled down with his wife in Pennington Gap, VA in the 1980's. He worked as a coal miner, raised cattle and farmed for over 40 years. He was an advocate farmer and loved everything about animals.
James was a graduate of James A. Cawood High School and received an Associates Degree from Southeast Community College. As a youth he became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Cawood, KY. He rejoined Friendship Baptist when he moved back to Harlan in 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Ann Middleton of Woodway, VA; two sisters, Linda Middleton White and husband Johnny Mack of Catrons Valley, Diane Middleton Putman and her husband Bob of Bellbrook, OH; three uncles, Clarence Middleton and Don Middleton of Cranks, and Dewey Middleton of Pineville; four nieces, Trish Crider and husband of Robert of Wallins, Suzanne Vires and husband Tim of Port Richey, FL, McKenzie Crider of Wallins, Lauren Putman of Bellbrook, OH; two nephews, Ryan Putman of Bellbrook, OH, and Chase Crider of Wallins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Middleton Family Cemetery in Cranks at 4:00 pm with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating. (Family & Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery just prior to service time) Family & Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to The Bible Church, Grays Knob, KY 40929.
