December 12, 1955 — November 21, 2024

Harlan

Hollie Jeanne Carr Trigg, 68 of Harlan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 21, 2024 at her home following a two year battle with cancer.

Hollie was born in Harlan on December 12, 1955 and was raised in Closplint, KY by her parents, James Carr, Sr and Sarah Louise Moore (Worthington).

She loved exploring the outdoors with her siblings, especially her older brothers, Vestelle and Ernest "Bugle". An accomplished student, Hollie graduated from Harlan High School and studied criminal justice at Eastern Kentucky University. On August 2, 1980, Hollie married her high school sweetheart, Michael Trigg. In 1992 she was studying to become a teacher when she became pregnant and had her beloved son, Cole.

Late in life, Hollie delivered newspapers for the Harlan Daily Enterprise. She also provided care for older members of her family, more specifically her mother. She advocated for various civil rights causes.

Hollie was raised in the Baptist tradition and spent some years attending First Baptist Church in Harlan. Later, she started watching the legendary Bishop G.E. Patterson of the Church of God in Christ on television and YouTube.

Hollie was the epitome of love and resilience. An unapologetic truth teller. She brought a smile to everyone she met with her comedic genius. Her favorite place in the world was Myrtle Beach, SC. She enjoyed watching exciting shows/films on Netflix, listening to old school soul music, eating delicious food, visting antique buildings, hearing good jokes, and reading her bible. Above all else, Hollie cherished spending time with her loving son, Cole.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Carr, Sr and Sarah Louise Moore; grandparents, John Dewey Moore and Frankie Moore; siblings, Thomas Dewey, Sondra, Sandra Jean, Lawrence Vestelle, and Ernest "Bugle" Ray Carr.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael Trigg; son, Patrick Ray Cole Trigg; sisters, Mary Carr Jackson, Joni Moore, Connie Macklin and Yolanda Missy Henderson; brothers, James "June" Carr, Jr, Michael (Katye) Carr, Frank (Lynn) Carr and Phillip Carr; she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
