Herbert Ray Walters, 77 of Baxter passed away Friday Oct. 6, 2017 at the Harlan ARH with his family by his side.
Ray was born March 14, 1940 in Westburn, TN to the late Herbert and Alfa Leach Walters. He was the butcher at A & P for 35 years until its closing; he then went to Save-A-Lot for 10 years as meat supervisor until his retirement. He was a member at Cornerstone Community Church. He loved the Lord, his family, and his dogs. He loved to yard sale and trade guns.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Luke Walters.
He is survived by his wife Mary Blanton Walters; son, Phillip (Tammy) Walters; daughter, Faith Walters; 3 brothers, Gene, Jeff, and Leo Walters; 5 sisters, Dotsy Walters, Cathy (Jeff) Jones, Rita (Steve) Burik, Gloria Cosgrove, and Lib Burch; grandchildren, Bradford Marsili, Hunter Jackson, Amber Jackson, Cory (Amber) Chorak, Kimber Chorak; 1 great grandchild, Josie Chorak.
Visitation is 6 – 9 Sunday (Oct. 8) at the Cornerstone Community Church in Baxter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday (Oct. 9) at the Church with Bro. Russell Gilbert officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walters Family Cemetery in Clearfield, TN. Pallbearers will be Hunter Jackson, Bradford Marsili, Josh Adams, Daniel Mills, Bill Blanton, and James Blanton.
