Hazel Turner Creech, 97 of Loyall, KY passed away on Monday morning of December 27, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Hazel was born December 2, 1924 in Big Laurel, KY to the late Hiram and Ida Belle Smith Turner. She began working with Hyden & Howard Grocery in Harlan until they closed, she then worked at Pennington's Grocery in Harlan for many years. She was a faithful member of the Harlan Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, part of the Joy Sunday School Class, Glory Singers, and Christian Menders. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church family.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Creech; grandson, George Warren Creech, Jr.; brothers, Silas, Ernest, Ornold, and William "Will" Turner; sisters, Maggie Turner, Anna Rose (Tom) Hassen, Sallie (Roy) Wright, and Frona Caldwell.
She is survived by her sons, George Warren (Darlene) Creech of East Bernstadt, KY and Harry (Angela) Creech of Loyall, KY; grandchildren, Elizabeth Renee (Richard), Joseph Ray (Jordan) Creech, Jamilyn (Peyton) Parrigan, Blake Jones, bonus granddaughter, Courtney Chapman; a great grandson, Lincoln Scott Creech.
She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, Darrell, Denver, and Bobby Caldwell, Linda Sexton, Jennifer Sanders, Yvonne Hoskins, Betty Cornett, Willa Maiden, Dee Caldwell, Hazel Orszula, Nancy Fiebrandt, Carolyn Poore, Jim Ferguson, Ruth Carter, and Sharon Coots.
Visitation is 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Friday (Dec. 31) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm Friday (Dec. 31) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Haywood officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Ernie Hawkins.
Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery at Big Laurel, KY with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ed Browning, Danny Howard, Richard Harris, John McNiel, Steve Miracle, Bobby Burgan, Mark Miracle, and John Myers.
Flowers are welcomed, but the family suggest memorials to the Harlan Baptist Church (Building Restoration Fund) PO Box 883, Harlan, Ky 40831.
