Gordon E. Reynolds, Sr 73 of Wallins passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon of March 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gordon was born August 17, 1949 in Pennington Gap, VA to the late Wilburn and Elsie Thomas Reynolds. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart. Gordon was well known in the community having been active in many area's with work and working with youth sports. He worked at Pope Cawood Lumber Co. for over 15 years, worked along side his brother Elmer, at Discount pools and any day you could drive by and see both out in their rocking chairs and telling tales. He was a baseball coach and served as President of the Harlan Little League. For many years you could hear him and his good friend the late Bill Ellis call little league baseball games on the radio, they both then moved on up calling High School Basketball and Football. He enjoyed fishing, and if you knew Gordon you knew he loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a member of the Wallins Church of God.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Wilson Reynolds of Wallins; his children, Gordon Eugene (Melanie) Reynolds, Jr of Louisville, KY, Stephanie (Lennie) Holbrook of Whitesburg, KY, Thomas Jason Reynolds of Wallins, Lori Lee (Cathy) Reynolds of Wallins, and step son, Curt (Sharon) Wilson of Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Gee, Eric (Sarah) Wilson, Mathew Wilson, Tony Reynolds, Bella Holbrook, Johanna Wilson and Raelynn Reynolds; great grandson, Zach Gee; brother, Elmer (Bernice) Reynolds of Harlan; sister, Theresa Reynolds of Dahlonega, GA; he leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and his Wallins Church of God family to mourn his passing, including two special children he loved as if they was his grandchildren, Autumn and Todd.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Saturday (March 4) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm (March 4) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Simpson officiating.
Military rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard at 6:00 pm on Saturday (March 4) at the funeral home.
