Eulias (Ted) Helton, Jr

Eulias Theodore “Ted” Helton, Jr. 54 of Cawood passed away Friday October 25, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Ted was born February 26, 1959 in Harlan, KY. He started working in the mining industry while in high school and was employed by Nally & Hamilton for the past 16 years. He previously worked for Great Western Coal Corporation and Bow Valley Mining.

Ted loved teaching adult Sunday School Class at the Cawood Church of God where he was a member. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and four wheeling in the mountains with family and friends.

Ted especially loved doing things with his son, nieces, nephews, and all of their friends. He always planned a Halloween hayride, trips to the movies on Thanksgiving and Christmas afternoons, fireworks for the 4 th of July. Anytime the kids wanted to do something they would say “let’s go ask Ted” and Ted made it happen.

He was preceded in death by a wonderful niece, Melissa Camarillo; his brother-in-law, Claude (Bud) McHargue, Jr; father-in-law, Ray Scoville; grandparents, W.N. & Ellen Gray and Ben & Frances Helton.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Sherry Scoville Helton; his much loved son, Caleb Helton, their gift from God both of Cawood; his parents, Theodore, Sr and Lucy Helton of Cawood; mother-in-law, Odetta McGlamery of Evarts; his sisters, Eulagray McHargue of Cawood, Elaine (Enrique, Sr) Camarillo of Floresville, TX, Janice (Chris) Stringer of Cawood, Joy (Junior) Harris of Cranks, KY; his brother, John Helton, Sr. of Cawood; uncles, Jack Gray of Cawood and H.D. Helton of Ballgrounds, GA; aunt, Dexter Mills of Arizona; nieces, Christa Stringer of Cawood, Alison Harris of Cranks, Rikki Helton of Cawood, and Angie Scoville (James) Blanton of Sharpsburg, KY; nephews, Jonathan McHargue of Pineville, KY, Theodore McHargue of Ft. Myers, FL, Jordan Harris of Cranks, Rick Camarillo, JR of Floresville, TX, John Helton, Jr and Joshua Noe both of Cawood, David Scoville, and Scott (Brianna) Scoville both of Evarts; brother-in-laws, Charles Ray (Rachel) Scoville, Rick (Tammy) Scoville, and Gary (Susie) Scoville; He leaves many other relatives and friends, but he is now enjoying that grand reunion with family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday Oct. 28, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 pm at the Cawood Church of God.

Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm at the Church with Rev. Frank Howard, Rev. Franklin Stewart, and Rev Terry Geary officiating.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 Tuesday Oct. 29, 2013 at the Fields Cemetery in Cawood with John Ben Swanson, Chris Stringer, Mark Bushnell, Eddie Huckleby, Ed Irvin, and Danny Stanton serving as Pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ted’s fellow Crew Workers at Nally & Hamilton.
