Ethel Howard, 78 of Harlan, Kentucky passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born May 20, 1938 in Leslie County, Kentucky daughter of Willard and Ethel Lewis. She attended the Poor Fork Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and had also worked at the Loyall School Cafeteria as well as Kroger. She loved Fishing and being “Granny” to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Howard, Sr.; brothers, Cova Lewis, Snowden Lewis, Willie Lewis, and Ray Lewis; and sisters, Bonnie Helton and Sylvania Murphy.
Surviving are her children, Joel (Tammy) Howard, Jr., Steve (Leslie) Howard, and Desa (Robby) Blanton; grandchildren, Drew Blanton, Charley Blanton, Jered Howard, Wyatt Howard, Brady and Caleb Adkins, Aja Beary, and Carly Howard; brother, John Lewis; and sister, Sybil Forrester. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. James Forrester will officiate the Services.
Interment will be Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Park Howard Cemetery at Wallins, KY. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
