Elizabeth Jean Blankenship

May 10, 1925 — March 26, 2016

Jean (Browning) Blankenship, 90 of Loyall passed away on March 26, 2016 following a short illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Harlan, graduating from Harlan High School in 1943 and was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Harlan. She was the daughter of the late J D Browning, Sr who had a metal and roofing business and Mrs. Nova Estell Craven Browning, and the wife of the late Joe Blankenship of Loyall. Mrs. Blankenship worked at the A & P Grocery Store and retired after 25 years from the Belk Department Store.  She and her husband, Joe also owned a skating rink in Harlan long ago as well as a Mobile Home Park.

She is survived by her children: Carolyn Rouse of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia Pinczewski-Lee of Lexington, KY and Gregg Blankenship of Loyall. She also leaves behind 2 granddaughters, Jenifer Ruth of Reno NV and Heather Arvin of Berea, KY and one great-granddaughter, Cathy Ruth.  She will also be missed by surviving nieces and nephews especially Judith Hale of Knoxville.

The family would like it to be said that Mrs. Blankenship always lived her life with love and grace, an asset to this troubled world and will be very greatly missed.

For all those wishing to pay their respect, there will be a viewing Tuesday (March 29) at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.

Her funeral mass will be Wednesday (March 30) at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father T. Mani George officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY.

Expressions of Love can made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2536 South US Hwy. 421, Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Mrs. Blankenship.
