Edward Earl Lay

 Edward Earl "Eddie" Lay, 66 of Verda, KY passed away on Saturday afternoon of February 22, 2025 at his home following a brief illness. 

 Eddie was born July 2, 1958 to Ernest and Martha Daughtery Lay. He was a retired coal miner having last worked with ARCH Minerals. He loved to Deer and Rabbit Hunt, was known for his breeding of Beagles also. He was a member of the Verda First Baptist Church. 

 Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia R. Lay; two grand daughters, Ava and Audrey O'Dell; special aunt and uncle who raised him after the death of his parents, Ken and Bobby Lay; brother, Dennis Lay; sister, Ernestine Lay.

 He is survived by his children, Nicole O'Dell of Strawberry Plains, TN and his son, Justin (Ann) Lay of Loyall, KY; her grandchildren, Alexis Noe and Emma O'Dell sister, Linda Lay; brother, Johnny Lay; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives to mourn his passing.

 In keeping with Eddie's wishes a Graveside service will be held 4:00 pm on Monday (Feb. 24) at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Rev. Danny McCreary officiating.

 Flowers are welcome, but memorials are suggested to the Verda First Baptist Church, PO Box 774 Evarts, KY 40828 in memory of Eddie.
