Dr. Jesse Burton Douglass, Jr died at his home on May 28, 2015 in Lexington, KY. He was born on June 25, 1947 in Harlan, KY and resided in Lexington and Sharps Chapel, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Burton Douglass, Sr and Joan Honora Colgan Douglass; his brother, Daniel O’Connell Douglass.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Richardson Douglass; his son Daniel O’Connell (Paige) Douglass and his grandchildren, Wylie V. Douglass and Emmet R. Douglass; his daughter, Molly Florence Douglass; his brother, Sidney B. (Diana Hatfield) Douglass.
He was a graduate of Harlan High School, obtained his BS at Bellarmine University and then went on to the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry obtaining his DMD and MSD-Certificate in Orthodontics. He was Board certified in Orthodontics.
After school he practiced dentistry in Harlan and Evarts, KY; he taught at the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry, practiced orthodontics at King Fasial Hospital, Ryhiad Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Cumberland Gap Orthodontics, Inc, Harrogate, TN, and White, Greer, and Maggard Orthodontics in London and Nicholasville, KY.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday June 1, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan, 306 East Clover St. Harlan, KY. with Rev. Elizabeth Guy Forester officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Clara A. Pope. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY with Daniel E. Howard, Dr. N.S. Guy, Thomas Pope, James Leo Miller, Richard Scruggs, Jim Ed Gibson, Steve Reid, Dr. Barry Burkett, Dr. Robert Calmes, Bob Stubblefield, Lyn Richardson, Steve Cawood, John Combs, Jesse O’C Douglass, Rusty Peace, and Rodney Shane serving as Casketbearers.
Visitation will be after 12:00 pm until the funeral hour on Monday June 1, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan.
