Doris Saunders

Doris Saunders, Harlan, formerly of Beaufort, South Carolina.  Born March 15, 1935, passed away on  Nov 26, 2017.

She was preceded in death by parents, Wilson and Josie [Hamlin] Crider,  sister, Yvonne Vanover, brother, Glenn Crider.

Surviving are her son, Gary Saunders, Florida; brother, Frank Crider, Indiana; sister, Naomi Kidder, Michigan.

Doris was a military wife for over 20 years making new friends with each new assignment.  One of her favorite places to live during those years was Beaufort, SC where she lived most during those 20 years.  While living in SC she attended church in Laurel Bay, SC, where she was church pianist during that time.  Her love of music began at an early age.  As a young teenager she became church pianist at Kelly Street Baptist.   Over the years wherever she lived she found time to teach many youngsters the art of playing Piano.  Many of those were students here in Harlan after she returned from SC to be a caregiver for her elderly father.  Doris always wanted to return to Beaufort but her own failing health put those plans on hold.  She spent past several years at Tri-Cities Nursing home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.  Rev. Donnie Adkisson will officiate the Services.
