Donnie Looper was taken to heaven on December 17, 2016. He was born October 21, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio to Geneva Simpson and Jim Looper. Happily married to Nola Rechsteiner, he dearly loved his grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Ella - children of Gary & Lisa Rechsteiner, Logan & McKenna - children of Doug & Jill Rechsteiner. Some of his most joyful times were watching their many sports, recitals, art shows, 4H and other events. He was big brother to Loretta (Don) Duncan, Judy (Benny) Meade, Kay (Steve) Meade and Anna (Husky) Turner. He enjoyed visiting with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins at family reunions and gatherings. After retiring from Eastman Chemical Company after nearly 30 years, he enjoyed traveling the US and the world, making many friends wherever he went. He took several mission trips to Mexico to build housing, and deliver medicine, clothes & household items. Some of his favorite interests were Kentucky basketball, and “Where’s George”.
Donnie was an alumni of Union College which was near and dear to his heart. He was so grateful for the scholarship he had received as a student that he created a scholarship for other young deserving individuals in Harlan County Kentucky.
He was a grateful, kind and generous person who will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.
Thank you to Caretel Inns and Southern Care Hospice, all the doctors, nurses and staff for all of their wonderful care.
