David Gilbert

David Earl Gilbert, 77 of Harlan, KY passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Hospice of the Blue Grass, Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  Mr. Gilbert was born May 9, 1938 son of the late Raymond and Edith Gilbert.

He was retired after serving 27 years as a pharmacy technician at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.  He believed in the Baptist Faith having attended the Elcomb Baptist Church.  He was a member of the Yocum Creek Lodge, he was an avid photographer and he was active in organizing the Elcomb Reunion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gordon Gilbert and Wayne Gilbert.  Surviving are his children, David Earl Gilbert, Jr. of Harlan, KY; David Wayne Gilbert of Harlan, KY; Kathy (Jude) Johnson of Harlan, KY; and Wanda (Roger) Pennington of Cawood, KY.  Also surviving is his brother, Larry Dale Gilbert of Keith, KY.

Visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Elcomb Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Elcomb Baptist Church.  The Rev. Josh Hensley and Rev. John Carter will officiate the services.

Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven cemetery.
