Clarence “Surge” Surgener, 90, of Cawood, Kentucky died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Continue Care Hospital in Corbin. He was born March 22, 1927 in Smith, Kentucky son of the late Manzo and Martha Surgener. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; a graduate of the University of Kentucky and an avid UK Fan. He retired after 30 years as an instructor at the Harlan Vocational School where he taught Auto Mechanics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Ledford Surgener; brothers, James, John, Henry, and Columbus; sister, Nancy Huff.
Surviving are children, Johnny Surgener and James Surgener; grandkids, James Wesley Surgener and Morgan Skye Surgener; great-grandchild, Caleb Surgener; and sister, Hazel Couch. Several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Spencer Burkhart will be officiating the services.
Burial will follow in the Cawood Cemetery at Cawood with Flag Presentation being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
