Clarence Rowe, 85 of Harlan died peacefully on Friday September 20, 2013 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Clarence was born January 14, 1928 in Bell Co., KY to the late Willie and Beulah Sharp Rowe and had resided in Harlan Co. for 80 years.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Opal Lee Rowe; an unborn child; siblings, Elmer and William Rowe, Jean Shepherd, and Joyce Johnson; his faithful dog Coco.

He was a retired coal miner with 42 years of service for Harlan Fuel Co., Yancey and Dixie Fuel Co., Grays Knob. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a loyal UK Wildcat Basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan. As a younger man he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Randall W. (Betty) Rowe, Sr. of Grays Knob, KY; his daughter, Pat (Dan) Williams of Baxter; grandchildren, Christopher (Tonya) Williams of Hyden, Candace Willis of Catrons Creek, Stephen (Lori) Williams of Shelbyville, Randall (Renea) Rowe, Jr. of Cawood and Andrew Williams of Richmond; great grandchildren, Taylor, Randi, and Anny Rowe, Cody Willis, Connor, Amelia and Kamden Williams. He leaves nieces, nephews, and other relatives to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Monday September 23, 2013 from 5 until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home and per HIS request the casket will be closed during visitation and funeral.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Rouse officiating. Music will be provided by his grandson, Christopher Williams.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday September 24, 2013 at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel. Pallbearers will be Randall Rowe, Sr., Randall Rowe, Jr., Cody Willis, Dan Williams, Christopher Williams, Stephen Williams, Andrew, Williams, Connor Williams, and Kamden Williams.
